Questions

Warranty FAQs

Which warranty comes with my car?

It depends on the car's age, mileage and fuel type, and the package you choose. Our team will confirm the provider, plan, length and claim limit before you buy, and you'll receive the full policy booklet.

Are hybrid and electric cars covered?

Yes. AA plans cover hybrid and electric vehicle components, and WarrantyFirst's Drive (hybrid) and Charge (electric) plans are designed for them. Drive+ and Charge+ also cover the high-voltage battery on eligible cars.

Can I use my own garage?

Usually yes, as long as the repair is authorised by the provider first. AA Warranty also has a nationwide network of approved repairers.

What isn't normally covered?

Warranties are for unexpected mechanical and electrical failures. They don't normally cover accident damage, faults that existed before cover started, routine servicing, or items that need regular replacement (for example tyres, brake pads, wiper blades and bulbs). Check your policy booklet for the full list.

Can I transfer my warranty if I sell the car?

AA Warranty can be transferred to a private buyer for a £25 fee, subject to approval. For WarrantyFirst plans, please check your policy terms or ask our team.

Can I extend my warranty?

Longer cover periods are often available when you buy. Ask our team about the options for your car.
